CALL FOR PAPERS

CHINESE ECONOMIC ASSOCIATION (CEA, Europe/UK)

CEA Europe/UK, CSSA-UK,

Coventry University

Venue: Online

Date: 12th and 13th December 2020 (Saturday and Sunday)

Overview:

Following nearly 40 years of reform, the Chinese economy has transformed in almost every aspect. The Chinese economy has transformed from one of the most closed and isolated economies in the world to a both highly globalised and world’s second biggest economy. In April 2018,the State Council of China has announced the decision of building up ‘a new pattern of higher-level reform and opening up’ to explore the achievement of ‘higher quality, more efficient, more equitable, and more sustainable development’. While in the past 6 years, China’s GDP has reached an  unprecedented high record, growing from 54 trillion to 100 trillion yuan.
A nexus of economy, technology and sustainability is, therefore, developed in China while the country is further deepening the reform and openness. This also leads to the restructuring of the global economy. The economic paradigm, both within China and globally, is now shifting from the simple mass production of standardized goods (productivity expansion) into afocus on higher inputs of capital, less environmental harms, greener usage and re-usage of resources (productivity enhancement).

In search of well-founded answers to the micro and macro issues concerning the technology, growth, and sustainability of China’s development, and especially the “China’s Deepened Reform and Openness”, the main theme of the 31st Annual Conference of CEA (UK).Submissions of theoretical and empirical studiesare welcome.
